Trump Signs Order For U.S. Space Academy: America Takes The High Ground

President Trump just put America back in the business of winning space.

At Johnson Space Center on Friday, he signed an executive order to stand up a U.S. Space Academy. The announcement came as he awarded the Congressional Space Medal of Honor to the Artemis II crew that flew around the Moon earlier this year—the first Americans beyond lunar orbit in more than half a century.

This is not another study group. It is the next step after the Space Force he created in his first term. The academy is meant to train the engineers, operators, astronauts, and officers who will keep the United States first in orbit, on the Moon, and on the way to Mars. Think West Point and Annapolis, only aimed at the domain that now decides communications, missiles, navigation, and national power.

The order creates a presidential commission with 120 days to lock down structure, curriculum, location, funding, and service commitments. Graduates would owe the country years of work in NASA, the Space Force, or related civilian posts. Tuition is expected to be free. The mission is not diversity seminars. It is competence.

China and Russia have spent years building anti-satellite weapons and treating space as a battlefield. Washington spent years talking. Trump is building the pipeline. Artemis II already proved the hardware can fly. Now the country needs the people who can fly it, defend it, and expand it.
