The Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has formally endorsed the appointment of former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, as Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) by President Bola Tinubu, expressing confidence that his wealth of experience and leadership would add immense value to the agency.
President Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), had two weeks ago, appointed the PDP chieftain to head the Federal Government agency.
The party said it had officially released Fayose to undertake the national assignment after the Ekiti State Working Committee (SWC) unanimously approved the move, adding that the resolution had been communicated to the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP.
In a statement issued on Sunday and made available to Nigerian Tribune by the Ekiti PDP State Publicity Secretary, Oluwafemi Philips, the party described the appointment as a recognition of Fayose’s leadership qualities, administrative competence and longstanding commitment to public service.
According to the statement, the endorsement by the state chapter reflected the collective confidence of party leaders in the former governor’s ability to deliver on the mandate of the REA.
The party noted that Fayose’s experience in governance, statesmanship and patriotism would be invaluable in advancing the agency’s mandate of expanding electricity access to rural communities across the country.
The PDP further prayed for divine wisdom, good health and strength for Fayose as he assumes office, expressing confidence that he would make both Ekiti State and Nigeria proud through exemplary service.
“We assure him of our unwavering support and prayers as he embarks on this new chapter of national service,” the party added.
The party also congratulated Fayose on the planned Monday commissioning of an iconic monument at the Ekiti State Government House in his honour, describing the recognition as a fitting tribute to his legacy and contributions to the development of the state.
