Oshoala struck in the 8th minute to give Nigeria an early lead, but the game turned when defender Blessing Demehin was sent off in the 40th minute for a foul on Barbra Banda. Despite being a player down for over half the match, the Falcons held firm with a disciplined defensive display.
Goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie made key saves, and the backline stood strong against relentless pressure from the Copper Queens to secure all three points.
The win is Nigeria's first of the tournament after their opening loss to Malawi and keeps their knockout stage hopes alive.
