The Officers’ Committee of the Medical Guild has visited General Hospital Badagry as part of its ongoing hospital visitation programme aimed at improving the welfare and working conditions of doctors across Lagos.
During the engagement, doctors raised concerns over manpower shortages, call duty meals and the need for improved facilities at the Call Rooms and doctors’ quarters.
The committee also held an interactive session with House Officers, listening to their experiences and concerns. Chairman of the Medical Guild, Dr. Oluwole Olusanya, announced plans to improve recreational facilities at the House Officers’ Quarters and provide air conditioning for the GOPD Call Room.
Dr. Olusanya also highlighted the Guild’s efforts towards the recent increase in the salaries of House Officers.
The committee later met with the Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. S. O. Adesola, to discuss the issues raised during the engagement. The visit also featured the formal introduction of the new Representative Council Member, Dr. Adejumo Esther.
The engagement reaffirmed the Medical Guild’s commitment to promoting the welfare, professional development and improved working environment of doctors in Lagos State.
