The Management of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) THROUGH THE Vice Chancellor Professor Adenike Oladiji has approved the appointment of Professor Hezekiah Adedayo Ayoola as Acting Dean of the newly established School of Architecture (SOA), effective 1st August, 2026.
Professor Ayoola is a distinguished academic, researcher, and administrator in the fields of Architecture, Housing, and Environment-Behavior Studies. He has served meritoriously as Head of the Department of Architecture, FUTA, since 1st August 2023 till the date of this new appointment and will now pioneer the newly established School of Architecture. With eighteen years of progressive experience in teaching, research, and academic leadership, Professor Ayoola has built a reputation as a committed scholar whose work is driven by innovation, impact, and relevance to societal needs.
He holds a Ph.D. in Architecture from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife (2015). He also obtained an M.Phil. (2012) and M.Arch (2008) from the same institution, and a B.Tech (Hons) in Architecture (2004) from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Oyo State. For his secondary education, he attended Ilesa Grammar School and Obokun High School, both in Ilesa, Osun State. He attended Fun-to International School Ilesa,Osun Stated for his Elementary Education.
Professor Ayoola began his university teaching career at Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Ikeji-Arakeji, in 2009 as Assistant Lecturer. He joined the service of the Federal University of Technology, Akure on 4th October 2011 as Lecturer II, and rose steadily through the ranks to attain the position of Professor in 2023.
Professor Ayoola has published over sixty academic papers in reputable journals and conference proceedings, reflecting both national and international visibility. He has also made significant contributions to postgraduate training, having successfully supervised several Master’s and Ph.D. students.
He is a registered member of the Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON), the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA), and the Association of Architectural Educators in Nigeria (AARCHES). The Council of the Nigerian Institute of Architects recently approved his elevation to the status of Fellow. He is happily married
As Acting Dean of the School of Architecture, Professor Ayoola is expected to provide strategic leadership that will position the School for long-term excellence, while providing direction to staff and students in line with FUTA’s vision.
