Tolu Arokodare, a striker for the Super Eagles, has finished his season-long loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers to Ajax, making him the ninth Nigerian international to play for the Dutch team.
The Eredivisie team secured the 25-year-old forward on an initial loan until the end of the season after Ajax and Wolves confirmed the agreement on Tuesday.
An option to make the transfer permanent in the summer of 2027 for a reported €22 million price is included in the agreement.
While Wolves will receive a loan fee and may receive further bonuses if Ajax qualifies for European competition, the Amsterdam club will pay Arokodare's whole salary throughout the loan period.
Arokodare leaves Wolves following a disappointing first season in England, marked by injuries, limited playing time, and reported off-field troubles. The Nigerian striker scored six goals and assisted twice before all parties agreed on a temporary transfer.
The deal comes after unsuccessful attempts to Turkish side Trabzonspor and Italian club Fiorentina earlier in the window, before Ajax emerged as his preferred destination.
The striker will wear the No. 99 shirt and expressed his delight after completing the transfer.

“There’s been so many big names that have played here, so many big strikers that have played for this team that have really represented the team well, and we know about the amazing and huge talents that they can produce. So, I can’t wait to get started, get going with the team, with the players, hopefully score some goals, win games and get back to being at the top of the table.”
Arokodare is the latest Nigerian to join Ajax, following in the footsteps of Finidi George, Nwankwo Kanu, Christopher Kanu, Sunday Oliseh, Tijani Babangida, Pius Ikedia, and Calvin Bassey.
