The wives of the chairmen of Badagry Local Government, Badagry West LCDA and Olorunda LCDA, Hon. Chief Mrs. Elizabeth Hunpe, Hon. Mrs. Mariam Medeyonmi Morenikeji Yemaren and Hon. Chief Mrs. Folashade Ajose, respectively, on Thursday hosted members of the Lagos State Council Chairmen's Wives Association (LASCCWA) for a strategic meeting and empowerment programme, with over 100 women receiving business support items.
The meeting focused on promoting women's participation in politics, good governance and grassroots development across Lagos State.
Speaking at the event, LASCCWA President, Hon. Mrs. Odunmbaku, urged women to remain courageous and actively participate in politics while reaffirming the association's support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
The beneficiaries received various empowerment items, including sewing machines, industrial sewing machines, pepper grinding machines, fish smoking ovens, popcorn-making machines, salon hair dryers, cosmetics kits, stoning machines, mobile shop units and cash grants to enhance their businesses and improve their livelihoods. Organisers said the exercise was conducted without discrimination to ensure deserving women across Badagry Division benefited.
Also speaking, the Vice Chairman of Badagry West LCDA, Hon. Mrs. Sesi Ogungbe Yusuf, advised beneficiaries to make productive use of the items and cash support to grow their businesses rather than dispose of them, describing the initiative as a step towards promoting women's economic independence and reducing poverty.
