CBN Appoints Candid Oil Services as Pre-Shipment Inspection Agent for Oil Exports


Abuja, Nigeria – The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has announced the appointment of Candid Oil Services Limited as the country's new pre-shipment inspection agent for crude oil exports.

The appointment was disclosed in a notice dated July 1, 2026, and signed by the Director of the CBN's Trade and Exchange Department, Aderinola Shonekan.

According to the apex bank, Taurus Oil and Gas Depot has been designated as the terminal to be operated by Candid Oil Services Limited under the new arrangement.

The CBN stated that the appointment was made in accordance with the provisions of the Pre-Shipment Inspection Act (PIA) of 1996.

In the notice, the bank informed all authorised dealer banks, the Nigeria Customs Service, the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), terminal operators, oil and gas companies, and the general public of the new designation.

The apex bank said the appointment forms part of the Federal Government's framework for overseeing pre-shipment inspection processes for Nigeria's oil exports in line with existing legal provisions.
