The Person who betrayed Me and worried me Is not even Wike; It Is my Wife; We Have no Business - Amaechi

According to a video on Chude Podcast, on Monday June 1, 2026, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi delivered one of the most unexpected and humour-tinged lines of his interview with Chude Jideonwo, declaring that the person whose betrayal has affected him most deeply is not his estranged political ally and successor Nyesom Wike, but his own wife.

The comment came during a conversation about political betrayal, loyalty, and how Amaechi has processed the falling out between himself and Wike, who served as his Chief of Staff and was widely seen as his political protege before the two men became fierce rivals in Rivers State politics.

His host had been probing whether Amaechi harboured any emotional pain or regret over the dramatic collapse of that relationship.

Amaechi's response was characteristically disarming. Rather than dwelling on Wike, he pivoted entirely to redirect the conversation in a direction that was both unexpected and deeply personal, using the moment to demonstrate what he described as his genuine emotional detachment from the political battles that define his public life.

In his words, Amaechi said, "I've told you before that I never lose sleep. Even him lose. There's nobody who walks around me who knows that this doesn't worry me.

Somebody sat down with me one day and said the number of people that have betrayed you and you're still alive and working. The person that betrayed me and worried me is not even Wike. It is my wife. I have no business with Wike," he said.

The remark underscored Amaechi's consistent claim throughout the interview that he does not allow the actions of political opponents or former allies to destabilise him emotionally.

He said he has survived enough betrayals across a long and turbulent political career to understand that such experiences are simply part of the territory.
