A man has publicly apologized to Nigerians who may have been influenced by his previous political views supporting the ruling party, saying recent developments in the country have led him to reconsider his position.
According to him, although he never regarded himself as a politician and only participated occasionally in political discussions, he had strongly defended and predicted the emergence of President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2023 general election, at a time when many people doubted his chances.
He explained that over time, some individuals informed him that his political analyses and opinions influenced their decision to support or vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC), adding that he initially saw no need to address the matter publicly.
However, he said worsening insecurity, increasing cases of kidnapping, economic hardship, and growing concerns about the safety of children made it impossible for him to remain silent, particularly as a parent.
The man stressed that supporting a government should not prevent citizens from speaking out against perceived failures or injustices, arguing that constructive criticism is an important civic responsibility.
He went on to apologize to anyone whose expectations may have been affected by his political influence, stating that Nigeria’s current challenges underscore the need for accountability, improved governance, and stronger protection for citizens.
