How to use Your NYSC NHIS/NHIA, an Opportunity Every Corper Should Use

1️⃣ Confirm your NHIS registration

During your NYSC orientation/camp process, ensure your NHIS details are available.

Keep any card, number, or information given to you safely.

2️⃣ Know your assigned healthcare provider

Find out the hospital or clinic you are attached to under the NHIS scheme.

Ask your NYSC officials ( clo or lgi) or check the information provided during registration if you are unsure.

3️⃣ Visit the hospital when you need medical attention

Go to your assigned NHIS facility whenever you have a health concern.

Go early instead of waiting until the condition becomes serious.

4️⃣ Present your NYSC NHIS details

Provide your NHIS card/number or any required identification at the facility.

The healthcare workers will verify your eligibility and guide you through the process.

5️⃣ Explain your health concern clearly

Tell the doctor or health worker your symptoms and any important information.

Ask questions if you do not understand the diagnosis or treatment.

6️⃣ Follow the treatment and instructions given

Take prescribed medication properly and complete your treatment.

Return for follow-up visits if required.

7️⃣ Report challenges

If you have issues accessing care, don’t ignore it. Speak with your NYSC officials or the appropriate NHIS support channel for assistance.

Reminder to corps members: Your NYSC NHIS is part of your service benefits. Don’t wait until you are very sick before using it. Your health matters throughout your service year. 💚
