According to a report by the official Facebook page of Imo State Governor, Distinguished Senator (Dr.) Hope Uzodimma, CON, GSGI on Friday May 1st 2026, a major humanitarian intervention aimed at cushioning economic hardship was launched in Kaduna State, as Nigeria’s First Lady, Distinguished Senator (Dr.) Oluremi Tinubu, flagged off the distribution of 100 trucks of rice alongside ₦1.2 billion in palliative support to vulnerable households across the 19 Northern States and the Federal Capital Territory.
Governor Uzodimma disclosed that he led members of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) to the event, describing the initiative as timely, especially as Muslim faithful prepare for the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
The First Lady, while addressing attendees, described the intervention as a “seed of renewed hope,” emphasizing its role in supporting families during a critical festive period.
He noted that while the economic reforms introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are structured to reposition the nation, they have come with temporary challenges affecting citizens.
According to him, the First Lady has remained steadfast in ensuring immediate relief reaches vulnerable Nigerians nationwide.
Uzodimma further revealed that Imo State has also benefited from similar palliative efforts, highlighting the broad national impact of the initiative.
The Progressive Governors, he added, have widely acknowledged these interventions and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting President Tinubu’s reform agenda, including his anticipated re-election bid in 2027.
The initiative underscores ongoing efforts to balance economic reforms with social welfare support across Nigeria.
