Ghanaians have taken to the streets in Accra and other parts of Ghana to protest, demanding that Nigerian migrants leave the country immediately. The demonstrators, many of whom are local traders, carried placards and accused Nigerian nationals of contributing to rising cr¡me rates and social vices.
According to reports, the protesters claimed that Nigerians are taking over key sectors of the economy, particularly in retail and trading areas in Accra, while also linking their presence to an increase in cr¡m¡n4l activities.
They further argued that Ghanaians face significant challenges when trying to run successful businesses in Nigeria due to high shop rents, heavy taxation, and other restrictive policies that make it difficult for foreigners to operate freely there.
The protesters alleged that Nigerians enjoy relative ease in establishing businesses in Ghana, which they believe creates an unfair imbalance.
