The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) writes with a heavy heart to commiserate with the management, staff, and entire student community of Covenant University on the sudden and tragic passing of Master Toluwase Jesutunmise Emmanuel. His death is a profound loss not only to your institution but to the entire Nigerian student body.
We extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved family, his colleagues, and all who were closely connected to him. Moments like this are deeply painful, and we pray that God grants everyone affected the strength and comfort needed at this time.
However, given the sensitive and disturbing nature of this incident, NANS respectfully requests that an independent, transparent, and comprehensive investigation be immediately instituted to establish the circumstances surrounding the passing of this young and promising student. It is our strong belief that such an inquiry will help uncover the truth, ensure accountability where necessary, and restore public trust in the safety mechanisms within the institution.
We further appeal that the investigation involve not only internal university committees but also include credible external stakeholders such as law enforcement agencies, student representatives, and neutral observers to guarantee fairness and objectivity in the process.
In solidarity and to ensure fairness to all parties involved, we shall be visiting the institution to have a progressive engagement with the management team of the institution on Monday, 13th April, 2026.
Once again, please accept our heartfelt condolences. We pray that the soul of Master Toluwase Jesutunmise Emmanuel finds peaceful rest, and that his family receives divine comfort.
