According to a report by Nigerian Tribune, on Saturday April 25, 2026, William Ruto, the Kenyan President, has responded to recent statements linked to Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Ruto spoke while addressing Kenyans living in Italy during a diaspora event, he praised Kenya’s education system and said it produces citizens who speak clear and confident English, he noted that this has helped many Kenyans communicate effectively on the global stage.
During his speech, the Kenyan President made a comment about Nigerian-accented English, he suggested that it can sometimes be difficult to understand.
Ruto also highlighted the strength of Kenya’s workforce, he said the country has talented and skilled people who only need more training to improve their global competitiveness and expressed confidence that Kenya can continue to grow with the right investment in education and skills.
His comments came shortly after Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Nigerian President, made a statement comparing Nigeria with other African countries, Tinubu had said Nigerians are still better off despite rising fuel prices and economic pressure, he urged citizens to remain hopeful during difficult times.
The Nigerian President made the statement during the inauguration of projects in Bayelsa State, while acknowledging economic hardship, he maintained that Nigeria’s situation compares favourably with some other countries.
The comparison drew reactions from several public figures, including Peter Obi, a former presidential candidate, Obi questioned the usefulness of such comparisons without proper data to support them.
He stressed that national development should be measured using clear statistics, he warned that statements without evidence could mislead citizens and hide the real state of the economy, according to him, data remains the best way for any country to understand its progress and challenges.
