Don Pedro Obaseki has reacted calmly after Osazee Adun, also known as Kapupue, apologized to him over an acid attack that happened in Benin City months ago. Despite the painful experience, Obaseki chose forgiveness over anger, saying his main goal is to help bring peace and unity to Benin.
In a video shared by ITV, he explained that although the incident left him hurt and traumatized, he sees himself as someone willing to make sacrifices for the greater good of his community.
According to him, holding onto anger would only create more division, while forgiveness can help repair relationships and move society forward.
Obaseki also described himself as someone who is not driven by political rivalry. Even though he is a chieftain of the ADC, he believes he can freely associate with members of other major parties like the APC and PDP without fear or bias.
This, he said, shows his commitment to unity rather than political conflict.
He emphasized that his actions were also influenced by respect for family values, especially the belief that forgiveness is important. Instead of seeking revenge, he decided to accept the apology and focus on healing.
In his words, "I'm the only one who can walk into an APC party and not bother, and enter into a PDP party and not bother, meanwhile I'm a Chieftain of the ADC."
