Operatives of the Delta State Police Command Raiders squad have arrested a suspected illegal firearms Fabricator and recovered locally manufactured guns and equipment used in the production of firearms.
Delta police command spokesperson Edafe Bright in a statement made available to Galaxy news, said the operation was carried out at Emuhu community in Ika South local government area of the state and led by the Raiders commander SP Akanya Agbogha.
According to the police, one 59-year-old Friday Ojei was arrested and a search was conducted at his premises, leading to the recovery of the four locally fabricated guns, welding and drilling machines, as well as iron plates used in the fabrication of arms.
The suspect is said to be in the custody of the police, while investigation is ongoing to identify and apprehend other members of the illegal firearm production network.
The Delta state police commissioner CP Aina Adesola commended the professionalism and vigilance displayed by the operatives involved in the operation, and urged members of the public to continue to support the police with timely and credible information.
