Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have arrested a suspected notorious commander of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), Sabastine Odo Odam, and a suspected member of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Ejike Daniel, during an operation in Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State.
Security sources disclosed that the suspects were apprehended on Friday, March 6, during coordinated operations carried out at Eha-Amufu and Umuhu communities following months of sustained intelligence gathering on their alleged activities.
According to the sources, the two suspects are believed to be masterminds behind a series of violent attacks on police formations and security personnel in the area between 2024 and 2026.
“The suspects have confessed to being responsible for a chain of attacks on police stations and the carting away of weapons. The attacks include the February 26 killing of 11 labourers, as well as the murder of five policemen between December 24, 2025, and January 26, 2026,” the source said.
The arrests, security officials noted, represent a major breakthrough in ongoing efforts by the DSS to curb violent crimes and restore stability in the South-East region.
Residents of Isi-Uzo Local Government Area reportedly expressed relief and excitement following news of the arrests, with many expressing hope that the development would help restore peace and security to the affected communities.
The suspects are currently in DSS custody and are expected to be arraigned in court after investigations are concluded, the source added.
