In a dramatic turn of events at Obafemi Awolowo University, a female student has publicly retracted her earlier allegation against a fellow student after he filed a ₦15 million defamation lawsuit.
In a heartfelt video statement, the young woman said, “I’m truly sorry,” acknowledging that her previous accusation was untrue and expressing regret for the harm it caused.
The apology comes after the accused student, David Adefesobi Ojuko, took legal action demanding compensation for the damage to his reputation and emotional wellbeing following the spread of the false claim on social media.
David’s legal team is seeking ₦15 million in damages, a written apology, and the removal of all defamatory posts. The latest video from the accuser is seen as a key development in the ongoing case.
