Man Arrested for Murder of Lover Over N530,000 in Ogun

A 47-year-old man, Kazeem Adebayo, has been arrested over the gruesome killing of his lover, Abosede Adesanya, a 30-year-old mother of five, in what police described as a calculated crime linked to money from a land sale.

According to police sources, Abosede’s 84-year-old mother, Amoke, had recently sold a piece of family land to raise money for a new property where she and her daughter planned to build a two-bedroom flat. Adebayo, who was in a relationship with Abosede, was among those who signed the sale documents and also promised to help them locate a suitable land to buy.

Unknown to the family, Adebayo allegedly had a sinister motive. He reportedly asked Abosede to come to his house with the sum of ₦530,000, which was part of the proceeds from the land sale. When she arrived, Adebayo allegedly attacked her, hitting her on the head with a heavy pestle. Abosede reportedly cried out before succumbing to her injuries.

Investigations revealed that after killing her, Adebayo buried Abosede’s body in a shallow grave inside his room. He then took ₦30,000 from the money to settle a debt and hid the remaining cash inside the ceiling of his house.

Concern arose when Abosede did not return home that night. Her mother, Amoke, became worried and called Adebayo, who denied seeing her. Suspicious, she reported the matter to the police.

The case was later transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Ijebu Igbo for further investigation. During a search of Adebayo’s room, officers discovered the shallow grave where Abosede’s body had been buried, confirming the horrific crime.

Adebayo has been taken into custody and is expected to be charged to court as investigations continue. The tragic incident has thrown the Ijebu Igbo community into mourning and renewed calls for justice and stronger protection for vulnerable women.
