One of Ghana’s billionaires, Dr. Daniel McKorley (McDan) while speaking to a group of students recounted to them how he had made more than $1 million selling maize by traveling to rural areas in Ghana to buy maize, store and later sell them in the capital.
While encouraging the students., he told them that in wealth creation, one’s attitude is very important and that attitude has to be 70% , 25% is skills and 5% is knowledge.
“So just imagine if you don’t have the right attittude in your growth?”
“I remember when I was young, I had to travel to Enchi, Dormaa and all those places to buy maize, store the maize in a village in Nsawam during bumper harvest, then maize season, I will go and sell the maize in Agogbloshie and I made soo much money”
He added how his friends ridiculed him for selling maize as they were in suits and ties sitting on offices but they didn’t know he was making soo much money and made over a million dollars just selling maize.
“I moved on to sell coffee, so much but I lost everything at 32 and I had to sell my own car and move back to to Trotro but that is life”
His story inspired the students as they learned a lesson about developing the right attitude towards work, making money in places where no one thinks there is money
