A TTC mom means a woman who is Trying To Conceive (TTC)
She is actively planning pregnancy and taking steps to improve her health so her body can support fertilization, implantation, and a healthy baby.
What are some important things she must do?
1. Nutrition matters a lot.
Eat regular meals with fruits, vegetables, whole grains, eggs, fish, beans, nuts, and dairy. These support hormone balance and egg quality. Avoid crash diets and extreme fasting.
2. Take folic acid daily, at least 400 micrograms.
It reduces the risk of serious birth defects even before you know you are pregnant.
3. Maintain a healthy weight.
Being underweight or overweight can delay ovulation and affect fertility. Gentle weight gain or loss, if needed, should be gradual.
4. Sleep well and manage stress.
Poor sleep and chronic stress can disrupt ovulation. Aim for 7–9 hours of sleep and use simple stress relief like walking, deep breathing, or prayer.
5. Limit alcohol and avoid smoking. Both reduce fertility and increase pregnancy complications. There is no safe amount when trying to conceive.
6. Track your cycle.
Knowing your fertile window improves chances of conception and helps you notice irregular cycles early.
7. Exercise moderately.
Light to moderate activity like walking, stretching, or swimming supports fertility. Excessive intense exercise may delay ovulation.
8. Manage medical conditions early.
Conditions like anemia, diabetes, thyroid disorders, infections, or high blood pressure should be treated before pregnancy.
9. See a healthcare provider early.
Pre-conception checks help identify problems and ensure vaccinations and medications are safe for pregnancy.
