DHQ - Nigerian Navy Rated First In Africa

According to the 2026 Global Firepower report, Nigeria ranks 22nd globally in naval fleet strength with 152 vessels, and it's the top in Africa. Huge improvement - 152 vessels, modern stealth vessels. Congrats to NN Generals.

For long, I have viewed the NAF Generals as patently stupid people. And I say this with all my chest.

How can we explain that the NAF has only 9 fighter jets. Just nine (9) fighter jets. How and why ? Very old L-339 trainers, very old Alpha jets, extra old C-130, no airspace radar cover, no air superiority fighter jets, no AWACS. Nothing respectable and modern since 1999 that we returned to democracy.

Since 2001, the NN Generals developed a 10yr acquisition plan, and meticulously pursued it. The NAF Generals were sleeping. Over the last 20yrs, the NN implemented the following :

A) Falcon Eye radar covering our entire coastline.
B) Regional Maritime Awareness Capability
C) Deep blue coastal systems
D) Acquired over 70 stealth vessels
E) Locally built Seaward Defence Boats (×3)
F) New frigate (coming soon) , and more

Just like the NAVY, the Army has also modernised a lot of its tanks, MRAPS, artillery, IFV, etc, alongside local development of weapon systems.

The NAF is behind. No 10yr strategic modernisation plan. No improvement to capital air assets, still relying on Shagari era planes, no national radar coverage, only 9 fighter jets, no air superiority fighters, no refuelling tanker, no AWACS, nothing. For a regional power like Nigeria.

The NAF is a very disgraceful force, led by buffoons.

May heaven not bring attacks to our doorsteps, because the NAF's weakness would make the Army and NAVY lose out.

Once again, congratulations to the Nigerian Navy and the Nigerian Army for bringing pride to Nigeria.
