The Defence Intelligence Agency has transferred detained cleric, Sheikh Sani Abdulkadir Zaria, to the custody of the Department of State Services following allegations linking him to an alleged coup plot against the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Security sources indicate that the cleric was initially taken into custody for questioning before being handed over to the DSS for further investigation and possible prosecution.
While official details surrounding the alleged coup plan remain limited, authorities are said to be intensifying efforts to uncover the full scope of the claims and identify any potential collaborators.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the federal government nor representatives of the cleric have released a comprehensive public statement addressing the allegations.
