Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage has spoken candidly about age, timing and self-acceptance, making it clear that she wears 45 as a badge of honour, not a weakness.
Speaking during an interview with Korty EO, the singer dismissed age-shaming outright, saying she actually loves telling people she is 45.
According to her, “I love saying I'm 45. I'm forty fine. If anyone ever thinks they are throwing shade by mentioning my age...” has it all wrong.
Tiwa revealed that she did not release her first single until she was 31, stressing that success does not always follow a fixed timeline.
She used her journey to encourage people who feel pressured by age milestones; whether it’s not having a record deal at 25, not being married, being divorced, or not yet achieving personal dreams.
Reflecting on her life, the award-winning artiste said she has “done everything” society often judges harshly. She has been married, divorced, single, heartbroken, and now 45. Yet, instead of these experiences holding her back, she believes they have shaped her purpose.
“I have everything that should work against me,” she said, adding that God has turned all of it around to work in her favour.
