Senator Ned Nwoko has clarified the circumstances surrounding the arrest of Ms Izuegbu Anthonet, also known as Ann, over allegations he described as false and damãging to his name.
In a statement issued by his media team, the senator said Ann was arrested for alleged crímínál defåmation after making serious claims against him and his family.
Allegations and Denials
The statement explained that Ann publicly accused Senator Nwoko of physically àssáultíng his wife, Laila Nwoko, and causing a miscarriage.
The senator firmly denied the claims, saying no such incident ever happened.
His team also alleged that Ann was linked to the procurement of an illegal abõrtion for actress Regina Daniels during her marriage to the senator.
According to Nwoko, the matter is documented and already under investigation by security agencies.
Police Investigation Ongoing
The statement revealed that a witness report submitted to the Maitama Police Station in October 2025 detailed repeated alleged activities involving illegal substances.
Investigations into the claims are said to be ongoing.
Nwoko’s team added that Ann’s arrest followed a social media post where she allegedly issued threats and repeated defåmatory statements.
They stressed that the issue is a law enforcement matter, not a social media disagreement.
The senator said he and his family would allow due process to run its full course.
He also urged the public to rely on verified facts instead of online rumours and speculation.
