The U.S. State Department has revoked more than 100,000 visas since Donald Trump returned to office—marking the highest single-year total on record.
Officials say the move aligns with the administration’s push to protect national sovereignty and tighten immigration enforcement. The number of cancellations since January 20, 2025 is more than double the total recorded in 2024 under Joe Biden.
According to the State Department, many revocations were linked to criminal offenses, including assault and DUI cases.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio also confirmed that around 8,000 student visas were cancelled, including cases tied to protests against Israel—some later overturned in court.
Visa screening has now expanded to include social media monitoring. Meanwhile, the Department of Homeland Security reports over 605,000 deportations last month, with 2.5 million others leaving voluntarily.
The government insists the measures are part of a broader strategy to enforce immigration laws and safeguard U.S. interests.
