The Management of the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) has reacted to a misleading viral video circulating on social media which falsely claims that some UNIMAID students were arrested for collaborating with Boko Haram insurgents.
The University categorically states that the allegations are baseless, false, and mischievous. No student of the University of Maiduguri has been found to have any link with Boko Haram or any similar group.
UNIMAID has zero tolerance for extremism or violence and has consistently played a leading role in promoting peace, countering violent extremism, and supporting national security efforts in the North-East.
The University community is made up of disciplined, law-abiding staff and students from diverse backgrounds who are committed to academic excellence and good conduct.
The Management urges parents, guardians, and the general public to disregard and refrain from sharing this misinformation, as it has negative consequences.
