Speed Darlington: “All I got from 23 years in America is criminal records”

Controversial Nigerian singer Speed Darlington has disclosed that his 23 years in the United States yielded nothing but criminal records, as he compared his struggles abroad to his success in Nigeria.

Speaking in a recent video, the rapper said he left America with nothing and built his mansion in Nigeria with money he made locally. He lamented that the US did not favour him as a Black man, adding that repeated arrests were all he gained from living there. According to him, American society drained his self-confidence and left him lonely, insecure, and constantly worried about being judged over his accent and identity.

Darlington stressed that Nigeria gave him dignity, freedom, and financial progress, revealing that the money from his clash with Portable helped complete his mansion. While he appreciates having access to the US to visit family, he said his well-being thrives better in Nigeria, concluding that it is better to be free in a forest than caged in the centre of everything.
