I have written extensively about the state of representation in Ondo North Senatorial District, and it has become increasingly difficult to ignore the widening gap between our senator’s performance and that of his peers across the country. When one objectively compares Senator Jide Ipinsagba with senators such as Senator Unyime Udem—who has clearly distinguished himself through visible empowerment programs, social interventions, and deliberate efforts at lifting his constituents out of poverty—the contrast is stark and troubling.
The fundamental question that must be asked is simple: What exactly is Senator Ipinsagba doing for the people of Ondo North, and who is truly benefiting from his time in the Red Chamber? As a bona fide constituent, I say this with a deep sense of disappointment: I have not benefited from his representation in any tangible way, nor do I personally know anyone who has. This is not said out of malice but out of genuine concern. I sincerely wish to be proven wrong, because effective representation should be visible, measurable, and inclusive—not vague, distant, or explainable only in press statements.
Representation is not about merely occupying a seat in the Senate; it is about using that seat to attract opportunities, influence policy, empower people, and address the real socio-economic challenges facing constituents. Unfortunately, Senator Ipinsagba’s tenure so far gives the impression of a man merely warming a seat, while Ondo North continues to grapple with unemployment, poverty, and underdevelopment.
This is precisely why many of us believe that Ondo North deserves better—and why the name Chief Alex resonates so strongly across the district. Alexander Oluremi Ajipe is not an experiment. He is tested, trusted, and proven. During his time at the Ondo state Ministry of Natural Resources/Kilk Konneckt, he demonstrated uncommon competence by turning previously untapped resources into tangible wealth jon opportunities and economic value. His record shows vision, capacity, and results—qualities that are sorely needed in the Senate today.
Leadership is about outcomes, not excuses. It is about impact, not occupancy. Ondo North needs a senator who understands governance beyond politics, who has shown the ability to translate ideas into action, and who sees public office as a platform for service rather than comfort. In that regard, Alex Ajipe stands out clearly as a far better alternative—someone with the experience, drive, and commitment to genuinely represent the interests of the people.
Ondo North cannot afford continued underperformance. We deserve representation that works, that listens, and that delivers. The future of our district depends on it.
