- Award Includes Daily Feeding Allowance for Three Years
The deputy governor of Ondo state, Dr Olayide Adelami, has awarded full tuition scholarships to one hundred newly admitted students of Government Technical College, Owo, covering the duration of their three-year training.
The scholarship was disclosed on Thursday during the 2025/2026 matriculation ceremony of the institution by the Principal, Mr Tayo Ijabiken, who expressed profound appreciation to the deputy governor for the gesture, describing it as a significant boost to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in the state.
“It is with deep gratitude that I stand before you to express our profound appreciation to the deputy governor of Ondo state, Dr Olayide Adelami, for the noble and generous gesture of awarding scholarships to one hundred newly admitted students of this college,” Ijabiken said.
He added that the initiative would ease the financial burden on parents while motivating the beneficiaries to pursue excellence in their chosen fields.
“Through this intervention, Your Excellency has not only provided financial relief to students and their families, but has also inspired hope, confidence and renewed determination in the hearts of these young learners,” the principal stated.
Ijabiken also commended Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for his sustained commitment to education, particularly in the area of skills acquisition for youths and women.
Speaking at the event, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor, Ogbeni Tayo Oluyi, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to repositioning technical education in line with global best practices.
According to him, “The commitment of Governor Aiyedatiwa to technical education is firmly anchored on the OUREASE Agenda of his administration, which prioritises opportunity creation, economic expansion, social inclusion and security.”
Oluyi urged other well-meaning individuals and organisations to emulate Dr Adelami by investing in skills development and youth empowerment.
In his remarks, the deputy governor, represented by a former Attorney-General of the state and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Kola Olawoye, said the scholarship scheme was part of his support for Governor Aiyedatiwa’s vision to revitalise technical education in Ondo state.
Dr Adelami advised the newly matriculated students to take their training seriously, noting that technical education provides a pathway to self-reliance and job creation.
In addition to full tuition coverage, the deputy governor has also committed to the payment of daily feeding stipends for the 100 beneficiaries throughout their three-year period of study.
