Comrade Temidayo Samson Obadaye was on today sworn in as President of the Owo Youth General Assembly (OYGA) at a ceremony held at Owo Local Government Secretariat Multipurpose Hall, pledging a “Owo First” agenda that prioritizes education, healthcare, security, and youth development.
In his inaugural address, Obadaye described the event as “not a celebration of personal victory but a solemn affirmation of collective will,” thanking Almighty God, the Owo youths for their trust, and the Electoral Committee for delivering a free, fair, and transparent election.
In his speech, the president also acknowledged his co-contender, Comrade Henry Adetokunbo Fadeyi, for his sportsmanship, announcing Fadeyi’s appointment as Chairman of the Strategy, Programmes and Partnership Delivery Committee.
Obadaye outlined a bold vision to reposition OYGA as a disciplined, strategic, and result‑oriented platform. Central to his agenda is sustained advocacy for the conversion of the Owo Polytechnic into a full‑fledged university and the upgrade of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Owo to a Teaching Hospital. He clarified recent employment issues at FMC, noting that six of eight youth CVs were approved for probationary slots and cautioning against rumors of a third‑term bid by the current Medical Director.
Under the “Owo First Eleven” principle, Obadaye promised fairness, equity, and community‑centered development. He announced plans for vocational training, entrepreneurship support, digital skills acquisition, sports and creative industry promotion, and mentorship programs. He also pledged to engage the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) to address power supply challenges and to support lawful security initiatives.
To strengthen his administration, Obadaye appointed Mr. Ijasan Michael Abiodun as Chief of Staff and Chief Ismael Olamitide Aborisade as Chief Protocol Officer, effective immediately.
“Unity remains our strongest asset,” Obadaye said, calling on all Owo youths to join hands in building a stronger, united, and prosperous kingdom. “Together, we shall turn vision into reality, advocacy into achievement, and unity into enduring strength.”
The ceremony was well attended by Royal fathers, community leaders, elders, industry captains, members of the press, and a large gathering of youths, signaling broad support for the new leadership.
