NNPP Warns: Governor Yusuf’s Exit Could Return Kano to Rejected Political Forces

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has strongly criticised the defection of Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, describing his decision as a betrayal of the trust reposed in him by the people of the state.

In a statement by its national leadership, the NNPP rejected claims by the governor that internal crisis within the party informed his exit, insisting that the party remains stable, united, and active nationwide.

The party pointed to its recent congresses, electoral activities, and organisational growth as evidence that there is no crisis capable of justifying the governor’s departure.

The NNPP further warned that Yusuf’s defection could pave the way for the return of political forces that the people of Kano had previously rejected at the polls, stressing that voters deliberately chose change when they elected the governor on the party’s platform.

Despite its disappointment, the NNPP urged its supporters in Kano State to remain calm and law-abiding, assuring them that the party would continue to stand by the democratic will of the people.
