The Nigerian Navy has uncovered and dismantled three illegal crude oil storage facilities in Rivers State, foiling ongoing oil theft activities in the Niger Delta.
The discovery was made on Saturday, 17 January 2026, by personnel of Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) PATHFINDER during an operation in the Isaka general area of Rivers State. The abandoned houses were being used as storage depots for stolen crude oil and illegally refined petroleum products.
According to the Navy, the facilities contained an estimated 30 sacks and six jerricans filled with large quantities of stolen crude oil and illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO).
The illegal storage sites were subsequently deactivated and neutralised to prevent their continued use and to deter further criminal activities in the area.
The operation was conducted under Operation DELTA SENTINEL, the Nigerian Navy’s ongoing effort to curb crude oil theft, illegal refining, and related economic sabotage across the Niger Delta region.
