Napoli Step Up Talks for Ademola Lookman as Transfer Window Nears Close

Napoli have intensified contacts with Atalanta over a potential move for Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman, as the Serie A side looks to bolster its attack before the transfer window shuts.

According to Italian outlet Il Mattino, negotiations are now decisively underway for the in-form winger, who recently returned to Bergamo after the Africa Cup of Nations and is considered likely to leave either before the window closes or by summer.

The report adds that Lookman remains Napoli’s primary attacking target, but the structure of the deal poses challenges. Napoli’s “zero balance” policy until February 2 limits their financial flexibility, making immediate manoeuvres difficult.

While Napoli cannot force Atalanta’s hand, they are banking on the Bergamo club’s need to sell—without underselling—especially with their attacking options boosted by the return of former Azzurri player Giacomo Raspadori.

With days left in the window, all eyes are on whether Napoli can find a workable formula to land Lookman and strengthen their title push.
