Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has shared his own version of what happened when Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, visited President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa.
Fayose said Makinde did not have the courage to meet the President alone and had to go with the Plateau State Governor for support.
According to Fayose, President Tinubu told Makinde that he was ready to listen to him only on official issues concerning Oyo State.
However, if the visit was about politics, the President said Makinde should continue speaking openly on television instead of saying different things in private.
Fayose claimed the President made it clear that he was not expecting Makinde’s support in 2027 and that he would continue to support his own party.
He also said President Tinubu stressed that Nyesom Wike is a loyal ally whose support cannot be ignored, adding that any problem between Makinde and Wike is strictly between them.
Fayose further said this was why Makinde later told journalists that he was comfortable remaining in the PDP, because there was nothing for him in the APC.
The former governor ended by questioning whether Makinde had returned the ₦30 billion he earlier admitted receiving from the Federal Government as an intervention fund after the January 2023 Ibadan explosion.
