Makinde derogatory comment against Tinubu Confirmed he Got a cold Shoulder during Last visit - Fayose

According to a report by Daily Independent, on Monday January 26, 2026, former Governor Ayo Fayose has criticized Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, claiming he has turned into an emergency opposition mouthpiece.

‎Fayose said Makinde’s actions are a reaction to being reportedly rejected by President Bola Tinubu.

‎Fayose explained that Makinde’s recent remarks against the president came after a visit to the Presidential Villa, where he allegedly received a cold response from Tinubu, according to Fayose, this reaction marked a turning point for Makinde in his political relationship with the president.

‎The former governor noted that Makinde had previously made comments at the birthday celebration of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, which were seen as critical of the president, he said this behavior reflected Makinde’s frustration after failing to gain political support or reconciliation from Tinubu.

‎Fayose added that the president had assured his party’s candidates in Oyo State of full support for the 2027 elections, he claimed this left Makinde with limited options, prompting him to publicly criticize the federal government and praise past administrations instead.

‎The former governor further suggested that Makinde is attempting to position himself as a strong opposition figure but described these efforts as largely unsuccessful.

‎“That Seyi Makinde’s derogatory comment against President Tinubu at Osinbajo’s birthday further confirmed that he got a cold shoulder from the president during his last visit to the Villa,” Fayose said.
