A lawyer has filed a lawsuit against former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), and other defendants at the Federal High Court in Abuja, seeking ₦1 trillion in damages over alleged violations of his fundamental human rights.
The claimant alleged that his rights were breached through unlawful actions allegedly carried out by the defendants while Malami was in office. He is asking the court to declare the actions unconstitutional and to award substantial damages for the alleged harm suffered.
Also joined in the suit are top government agencies and officials, whom the claimant accused of abuse of power, intimidation and denial of fair hearing.
The lawyer further urged the court to order a public apology and other reliefs he described as necessary to restore his dignity and constitutional rights.
The case has been adjourned, as the court is yet to fix a date for hearing.
