The Lagos State Government has announced that rehabilitation work on 20km of the Lekki–Epe Expressway will commence on Sunday, January 25, and is expected to last 64 days.
The disclosure was made by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure, Olufemi Daramola, during an inspection tour of the corridor, according to a report by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Daramola explained that the project—covering both carriageways from Admiralty to Jubilee Bridge—had already been awarded by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, but was postponed from its initial November 2025 start date due to the Yuletide season.
He noted that construction was deferred after a stakeholders’ meeting to avoid heavy traffic disruption during the festive period. The latest site visit was aimed at reassessing road conditions and finalising plans ahead of commencement.
According to him, the rehabilitation will be executed using flexible pavement (asphalt) and divided into eight sections to reduce traffic congestion and inconvenience to road users.
Motorists using the Lekki–Epe corridor have been advised to plan ahead as traffic management measures will be put in place during the rehabilitation period.
