Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has cleared the air on rumours that he plans to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Makinde spoke after meeting President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday. He said clearly that he is comfortable in the PDP and has no plan to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The governor was asked about recent reports of some PDP leaders moving to the ruling party. In response, Makinde said his loyalty to the PDP remains strong.
He explained that there are times when leaders from different political parties must work together for the good of the country. According to him, national issues should not be handled by one party alone.
“When the interest of Nigeria is involved, everyone must come together,” he said.
Makinde’s statement shows that while he supports cooperation across party lines on national matters, he remains firmly rooted in the PDP.
