I Was Married at 19 Through My Parents ~ Patience Ozokwo Opens Up

Veteran Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwo has shared a touching story about how she got married at a very young age.

According to the actress, she was married at 19 years old, not by her own choice, but through an arrangement made by her parents.

She said she was afraid at first because she did not know how to love a man she did not choose. However, with time, love grew between them.

Ozokwo revealed that she and her husband were married for 23 years before he passed away in 2000, after battling illness for 15 years.

She said they had three children together and that she later adopted five more, though one of the adopted children died. She now has seven children.

The actress explained that she never remarried after her husband’s death, choosing instead to focus on raising her children.

Speaking about marriage today, Ozokwo noted that many people work hard on themselves, yet marriages still fail. She said marriages in her time, especially those arranged by parents, were handled with commitment and endurance.

She added that she raised her children with strong values, teaching respect and responsibility, which helped her build a stable home despite many challenges.
