Germany is weighing the possibility of boycotting the 2026 FIFA World Cup following growing political concerns linked to actions and policies of U.S. President Donald Trump.
The tournament is scheduled to be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, but senior figures within German football have called for serious discussions on whether participation aligns with the country’s values amid rising political tensions.
A top official of the German Football Association (DFB) noted that recent developments have strained transatlantic relations, arguing that sport cannot always be completely separated from politics.
