FG to Spend N24bn on Moshood Abiola Stadium Rehabilitation in 2026 Budget

Nigeria plans to spend over ₦24 billion on the rehabilitation of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, as part of the National Sports Commission proposed ₦203.6 billion budget for the 2026 fiscal year.

The allocation is aimed at comprehensive upgrades to the stadium’s main bowl, the completion of a high-performance sports centre, and improvements to supporting infrastructure within the complex.

The planned rehabilitation forms part of a broader federal push to revive Nigeria’s sports facilities, enhance athlete development, and ensure the country is better prepared to host and compete in major international sporting events.

Sports stakeholders believe the investment could restore the Abuja stadium to global standards, boost sports tourism, and reposition Nigeria as a serious destination for continental and international competitions.
