Chukwueze Under Fire for Mocking Teammates Over Unpaid Allowances

Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze has come under heavy criticism after a viral video surfaced showing him jokingly mocking his teammates for risking their bodies despite unpaid match allowances and bonuses.

The clip, recorded ahead of Nigeria’s AFCON semifinal clash against Morocco, shows Chukwueze interacting with Stanley Nwabali and Calvin Bassey.

In the video, Nwabali is heard saying, “I never see anything,” referring to unpaid entitlements. Chukwueze then responds mockingly:

“Una get mind sha o. You never see your money and you were defending with your life and delaying time. You even almost inj¥red your knee.”

Since the clip began trending, many Nigerians on social media have condemned the remarks, describing them as disrespectful to teammates who showed commitment and sacrifice on the pitch.

The backlash intensified after fans linked the incident to Chukwueze’s missed penalty in the semifinal match against Morocco, which Nigeria eventually lost on penalties.

Critics argue that the video reveals a troubling attitude toward team spirit, especially when players continue to give their all for the national team despite unresolved welfare issues.

⚽ The incident has reignited conversations around player welfare, unity, and respect within the Super Eagles camp.
