Catholic Church’s Knight of St John Expels Sir Louis Okoye Over Apostasy

In a decisive move, the Knights of St John International, Assumption Commandery Nnewi, under the Catholic Church, has formally expelled Sir James Louis Okoye, also known as Akacham, following an incident on January 14.

The Commandery’s President, Sir Noble Cyprian Egbosi, stated that the expulsion comes after a thorough investigation into Okoye’s actions, including denouncing the Roman Catholic Church and embracing apostasy.

The official letter outlined the reasons for his expulsion:

Denouncement of the Catholic Church

Adoption of apostasy

Conduct deemed unbecoming of a Knight

Okoye is now barred from claiming any rights or privileges of the Knights, including the use of the title “Sir,” wearing the Knight’s uniform, or retaining any property belonging to the order.

This announcement marks a rare and high-profile disciplinary action within the Catholic fraternal order.
