Barely days after BUA Cement announced a generous $500,000 gift to the Super Eagles, tension has erupted as the company’s truck drivers staged a protest in Abuja over what they describe as a massive welfare neglect.
According to reports, the drivers accuse the company of allegedly withholding over ₦10 billion meant for their welfare, including unpaid benefits, allowances, and improved working conditions. The protesters expressed anger that while huge sums are donated publicly, those responsible for transporting the company’s products nationwide are allegedly left to suffer.
Videos and photos from the protest show truck drivers and their vehicles occupying parts of Abuja, demanding urgent intervention and fairness from management. Some drivers claim they endure unsafe working conditions, poor compensation, and long-standing welfare promises that have not been fulfilled.
The development has sparked heated reactions online, with many Nigerians questioning corporate priorities and calling on BUA Cement to address the grievances transparently.
As of now, the company has not issued an official response to the allegations.
