The All Progressives Congress (APC) has denied reports claiming that Vice President Kashim Shettima may be dropped as President Bola Tinubu’s running mate ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a statement released on Sunday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, described the reports as false, misleading and without any truth.
According to the APC, it has noticed growing rumours in the media, including names of people allegedly being considered to replace the Vice President. The party said all such reports are pure speculation and should not be taken seriously.
The APC also reminded Nigerians that political activities are still banned by law, stressing that talks about the 2027 elections are too early.
The ruling party said its main focus right now is to fully support President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima in delivering the Renewed Hope Agenda, especially economic reforms meant to improve the lives of Nigerians.
The party warned ministers, government officials and party leaders to avoid statements or actions that could create unnecessary rumours, urging them instead to concentrate on their duties and highlight the achievements of the Tinubu-led government.
