Marrakech Morocco January 10 2026 Nigeria’s Super Eagles delivered a commanding and disciplined performance on Friday night to defeat Algeria two nil and secure a place in the semi finals of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations AFCON 2025.

Goals from Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams sealed the victory in a tense quarter final clash that saw Nigeria outclass one of Africa’s most experienced football nations with composure tactical discipline and clinical finishing.

Nigeria took control of the match in the first half and were rewarded in the thirty eighth minute when Victor Osimhen rose highest to power home a trademark header following a well delivered cross. The Napoli striker’s goal was his fourth of the tournament and once again underlined his importance to the Super Eagles attack.

Algeria attempted to respond with increased pressure in the second half but Nigeria remained solid at the back with Calvin Bassey and William Troost Ekong putting in commanding defensive displays.
