The leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has claimed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is planning to replace Vice President Kashim Shettima ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
In a statement released by his media aide, Ayodele said the plan is connected to Tinubu’s decision to run a Muslim-Muslim ticket, which he earlier warned against.
According to the cleric, removing Shettima in a hostile manner could create serious problems for the ruling party, as the vice president may turn against the party if treated unfairly.
He alleged that there are plans to choose a serving governor as Tinubu’s new running mate.
Primate Ayodele also advised Tinubu not to pick any governor who recently defected to the party, especially from the North, warning that such a move could cause tension in the region.
Speaking further, he said although Tinubu is making efforts in governance, betrayal from close allies and blocked access to helpful advisers are working against him.
On insecurity, Ayodele claimed that external forces understand Nigeria’s security system and can exploit its weaknesses, no matter the strategy put in place.
