Many may not like this, but after observing Phyna’s live session, I can say without fear that she is acting out of ignorance, and poor counsel. She’s irrational, selfish in her approach, and lacks the maturity to handle a matter of this magnitude. What makes it worse is that she has no higher voice, no wise authority, no good counsel guiding her, so her anger is turning into foolishness.
First, let me say this, may God rest the soul of her sister. That tragic incident is deeply painful, and I personally feel for the little children left behind. They are the true victims in this situation in my opinion. Nobody deserves such a fate, and no one wishes it on another.
But let’s not forget a basic truth, this was an accident. That is what most of the emotional mob shouting online fail to recognize. Every single day in this country, accidents claim lives, sometimes in homes, sometimes on the road. People slump in their rooms and die; drivers crash into other vehicles and people die. Families mourn, bury their loved ones quietly, and move on as best they can. Nobody goes around demanding billions of naira, monthly salaries, and lifelong stipends because of an accident.
Now imagine this, if it had been an ordinary taxi driver or a struggling bus owner whose vehicle was involved, would Phyna demand billions, scholarships, or even come on social media to cause all this drama? Never. They might take some money for burial expenses, mourn their loss, and life goes on. But because it was Dangote’s truck, the tragedy suddenly became a jackpot, a chance to milk a company dry, not out of justice but out of greed. This is where exploitation shows its face.
The poor exploit much more than the rich do, they exploit through emotional blackmail, manipulation of conscience, exaggeration of needs such as she’s currently doing, and weaponization of morality.
Phyna’s demand for $19 million (or billions of naira), perpetual stipends, and even threats of arson is not only ridiculous, it is exploitation and greed disguised as justice. And this is why companies like Dangote Group cannot and will not bow to such unreasonable demands. Because no matter how wealthy a company is, an accident cannot be equated with deliberate murder, not even in the court of law.
There’s a difference between justice and exploitation:
Justice would be demanding that the company take responsibility, handle the burial, and provide a one-time reasonable compensation for the children’s future.
Exploitation is turning an accident into a lifetime pension scheme, demanding houses, monthly salaries, and billions that even governments don’t give families of soldiers who die in service.
Let us be honest, no amount of money can equate the value of a life. That is why legal systems all over the world treat accidents differently from murder. Because to accept Phyna’s demands would be to open the door for every accident involving a wealthy person to become an avenue for ridiculous extortion. If this becomes the norm, no company will survive it, and no one will take the law seriously again.
And to crown it all, coming online to threaten that she will burn down 15 of Dangote’s truck if they didn’t meet her demands is the highest form of stupidity that I’ve seen in recent times. Because if she dares as much as burn one truck, she will face the full wrath of the law, and the same crowd cheering her on will disappear when she’s behind bars, because at that point her fight will no longer be justified.
What Phyna needs is wisdom. What the family needs is calm, respectful dialogue. What the children need is not noise and social media rants, but a clear arrangement for a one-time compensation that, if managed wisely, will sustain them for life.
Exploitation cannot build justice. Anger cannot build legacy. Foolishness cannot secure the future of those children.
If truly she loves her late sister, if truly she cares about those children, she should stop this senseless noise, go clean her systems of drugs, sit down with the company, and find a settlement rooted in reason, not entitlement. Because fighting like this is not only dishonoring her sister’s memory, it is destroying her own credibility.
